STORY OF KING RO
King Ro Market has been serving the people of Round Pond, Maine for over 150 years. Our store is a staple of life here in Round Pond, and many people come from faraway places to enjoy our services. The store has offered gasoline and food over the many years, as well as drinks, snacks, groceries, beer, and other convenient goodies.
WELL-OWNED
Over time, the store has seen its share of owners. Each purveyor of the shop bringing their own unique flavor to the store, it has kept the people of Round Pond and surrounding villages fed and fueled-up, as well as employed. The store has provided a living for generations of people.
"FOR SALE!"
The store has changed hands only a few times in the last century, and has hardly ever closed for very long. The store was closed in 1968, when the previous owner, Artel Bryant, passed away. B.J. Russel's parents bought the business two years later, and re-opened its doors again in 1971. B.J. himself became proprietor in 1991, and the property owner in 1995.
NEW HANDS
In December 2023, the store was re-opened by new proprietors Steven and Karen Brackett. They plan to keep the shop alive as a cultural and culinary staple of Round Pond, Maine. Pizzas are back in the oven, Music is being played on Monday nights, and good times are being had again inside the walls of King Ro Market.
